Old Fashioned Apple Crisp
Apple Crisp is a timeless dessert -and who doesn't love it? Especially with your favorite vanilla ice cream on top and slowly melting into the warm, slightly soft cinnamon apples with the delightful crunch of the "crisp" topping!
This one will never go out of style and is a great go-to choice. If apples aren't your thing or you want to do something a little more seasonal you can always replace with another fruit like peaches, plums, berries, the world is your oyster!

Tools Needed:
Kitchen scale (optional)
Baking Sheet
Parchment paper or silicone sheets
Measuring cups and spoons
Mixing bowls and spoons
Ingredients:
Cinnamon Apple Layer
5-6 large apples, or 5-6 cups peeled and chopped or sliced *
1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
1 and 1/2 tsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup water
*I would recommend a tart variety to balance out the sweetness, but any apple works here!
Crisp topping
1/4 cup (57 g) unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup (40 g) oats
3/4 cup (90 g) all-purpose flour (can substitute with a gluten free blend to make gf)
1/2 cup (100 g) packed brown sugar
1/8 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
DIRECTIONS
Apple Layer:
Peel and chop or slice apples and place them in your pan.
Mix all dry ingredients (sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt) together, then sprinkle over apples and toss until evenly distributed.
Pour water on top, toss again and set aside.
Crisp Layer:
Melt butter in a medium/large size bowl, then mix in all remaining ingredients.
Crumble the mixture evenly over the top.
Bake for about 35 minutes or until apples are softened. Let it cool for about 10 minutes to set and serve while still warm. My favorite way to enjoy is with vanilla ice cream on the side! I hope you enjoy!
